Lord Ganesha uses his trunk to destroy obstacles and progress. Ganesha trunk symbolises change. Also, it is twisted symbolising the sound of OM, the universal sound. The right trunk is not very common and almost rare. The Ganesh idol at the famous Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai is an idol with its trunk curved to the right. The right side trunk is called Siddhi Vinayaka. Siddhi, one of the wives of Lord Ganesha resides to his right and hence, the idol with a trunk curved to the right is called Siddhi Vinayaka. Right sided trunk stands for freedom from all worldly pleasures and the attainment of Moksha. This idol is considered to have large amounts of energy surrounding it. Worshipping this statue helps in the manifestation of desires or powers. It is considered most lucky and auspicious to worship this form of Ganesha.
